Information we collect
When you contact us, we receive the details you provide: your name, company, email address, telephone number, enquiry topic and message. We receive this information directly from you. Our web host may also record technical information needed to operate and secure the website, such as IP address, browser details, requested pages and access times.
How and why we use it
- Enquiries: We use contact details and your message to respond and discuss the services you request. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, where applicable, or our legitimate interest in handling business enquiries.
- Website operation and security: Technical records help us deliver the site, diagnose faults and prevent abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website.
- Legal records: If an enquiry leads to a business relationship, we may need to keep relevant records to comply with legal and accounting obligations.
You are not legally required to use the contact form. We need your name, email address and message to respond through it; the other fields are optional. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your enquiry. We do not use contact form details for marketing unless we tell you separately and have a lawful basis to do so.
Who receives your information
Contact form messages are emailed to our business mailbox. Our website hosting and email providers process information needed to provide those services. Authorised members of our team may read your enquiry. We may share relevant information with professional advisers or authorities where necessary or required by law. We do not sell contact form information.
External services and links
These public pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google's servers to obtain them; Google's privacy policy explains its processing. LinkedIn is an external site and receives information if you choose to follow that link. Please review the privacy information provided by any external service you visit.
Cookies
These public pages do not include analytics or advertising cookies in their site code. The hosting service may use technical storage needed to deliver the site. The online training platform may use its own cookies and should provide details within that service. If non-essential cookies are added to these pages, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiry messages while dealing with the request and any follow-up. If an enquiry leads to a business relationship, we keep relevant correspondence for the duration of that relationship and for any period needed for legal, accounting or dispute purposes. We review and delete or anonymise information when those purposes end. Technical logs are kept only for the period needed for site operation, security and troubleshooting, subject to the hosting provider's retention settings.
International processing
Some external services, including Google Fonts, may process technical information outside the UK. If a provider acting on our behalf transfers personal information internationally, the transfer must use an applicable UK adequacy regulation or another lawful safeguard. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to a particular transfer.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your information, restriction of its use, or a copy in a portable format. You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Contact hello@eric-smith.com to make a request. We do not make decisions about contact form enquirers solely by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

We may update this page when the website or our handling of information changes. The date above shows the latest revision.
